The Country Kitchen
Is a wonderfully rustic cookery demonstration area where chefs talk about and demonstrate how to cook a wide selection of dishes. Most are at the top of their profession and have been specially selected for their obvious culinary skills. Featuring this year are:
The Crabstock Boys – demonstrating the use of British seasonal seafoods. Andy and Adrian will be telling you their tales of the open sea and how to cook what you catch.
Andy Newitt – Andy spent many years working in many different catering establishments, ranging from Hospitality for Trust House Forte Crest Hotels to running a slaughter house canteen and recently working as Head Chef for Carlsberg’s flagship brewery, boasting three staff restaurants on one site, with Andy overseeing the daily running of each restaurant and the hospitality they provided to their many offices. Andy now owns and runs his own Community Café called Relax & Unwind, housed inside a pioneering centre called The Doddridge Centre in Northampton that houses many different associations and charities that do amazing work supporting the local community and vulnerable adults. He is also currently helping to provide free meals for homeless people and is in close contact with a local temporary over night shelter for homeless people in Northampton, using a suspended meal scheme offered on the daily menu to help fund the meals.
Mark Lloyd (Sunday only) – Mark has a passion for shooting, fishing and foraging, and has an amazing understanding of kitchen gardens and animal husbandry. His talents don’t end there, writing features on wild food for some of the top food publications, including BBC Good Food Magazine, Harrods, Elle and Countryside Alliance. He has been called a Wild Food expert, I suppose 30 years of experience makes him that. He teachs sessions on wild food, foraging, how to identify it and cook with it.
Hungry on the day? The Piazza is a truly international food experience – buy, eat and enjoy: from Thai noodles to the good old British hotdog! This is a relaxed area of the showground where you can eat, drink, and watch the world go by!
Real Ales and Ciders
A variety of real ales from local breweries at our very own Stagger Inn bar. Also a selection of real ciders from British small producers. Great atmosphere and the usual wines and soft drinks as well.
